Public Conference : Kumiko Kotera
L'Univers Violent - Jeudi 13 novembre à 19h30, Institut Pascal, Grand Amphithéâtre
As part of the Astroparticles Symposium, Kumiko Kotera, Director of the Institut d’Astrophysique de Paris, will give a public lecture titled “The Violent Universe.”
Modern astronomers now capture brief but powerful phenomena such as supernovae, pulsars, black hole mergers, and gamma-ray bursts. These events release immense energy, emitting light, cosmic rays, neutrinos, and even gravitational waves. Professor Kotera will explore how these multi-messenger observations are transforming our understanding of the cosmos, while sharing insights from the GRAND project, an ambitious initiative deploying tens of thousands of antennas in the Gobi Desert and the Argentine Pampas.
The conference will be held in French, and access will be free.
